Black Marlin scientifically know as the makira indica, is a species of marlin found in tropical and subtropical iindo-pacific oceans. The Black Marlin is a member of the Billfish  Istopherinae Sub-family of the Xiphiidae Family which are large oceanic pelagic surface fish. It has a dark dorsal sidea silvery white belly, and faint vertical stripes running down the sides, and the most noticeable feature is the sword like upper jaw. weight varies for adult males they usually weigh around 300 pounds, the adult females are much larger and they around 1,000 pounds. The females are so much larger because they mature faster then the males and research shows that there spines are larger at birth. The black Marlin’s eat anything that is from lobsters, crabs, and large prawns. They also eat blue fin tuna, yellow fin tuna; skip jack tuna, black fin tuna, all needlefishes, snappers, and redfish. The black Marlin is a species found in tropical and subtropical which is not far from the surface of the Pacific oceans They are large fish with a maximum weight of 1,700 pounds but there has been a greater been recorded. It is one of the largest marlins and bony fish. The marlin is one of the fastest fish on earth reaching speeds up to 80 mph This fish is highly prized if caught. some interesting facts are that:
